the sound of disappointment.

vibrating air planes rumbling purring light switches water going down into a black hole black holes are what happens when stars give in under too much pressure they run out of fuel. I can hear my body caving in.

humming of a distant air conditioner. cool breeze. peaceful silence. train whistles interrupting. teeth chattering. footsteps.
10:12pm
a voice I haven’t heard in a long time awkward laughter “i’ll never forget that night for the rest of my life” dee-jay dee-va co-workers giggling bar chatter lighters clicking an empty pitcher hitting the table breath on my neck.
5:05am
cats running after each other so.fast. I can almost hear the thumping of their little hearts. one runs into the guitar and makes the most lovely sound. birds are chirping outside my window. rustling of paper napkins. claws on skin. thumping of footsteps above me. creaking of the door. engine starts. my mind saying it’s too early for this.
